Explore Belair's outstanding Triple Crown legacy - Belair Thoroughbreds Gallant Fox (1930) and his son, Omaha (1935) remain the only father/son Triple Crown Winners in history. The 1923 stablemaster's apartment offers a glimpse of life on the farm in days gone by. Try your hand at churning butter in a 1920s "Dazey" churn.

Astronomy Day

Astronomy Day is a worldwide effort to share the wonders of astronomy with the public. This year marks a special time in Prince George's County, as three organizations will combine efforts on Astronomy Day. The Astronomical Society of Greenbelt, Howard B. Owens Science Center
and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Visitor Center
will work cooperatively to bring the heavens down to Earth. ASG members will set up telescopes at Owens (weather permitting) for safe views of the sun, moon and Saturn. Projects for children will take place indoors, such as making a sundial out of paper. Additional presentations will take place in the planetarium, including star shows. At the visitor center, you can see a fantastic exhibit called Science on a Sphere. A shuttle will operate between Owens and the visitor center.

Anthem auditions
The city of Bowie will hold auditions to perform the national anthem
at city-sponsored events Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. at City Hall. Participants should come prepared to perform the National Anthem and one other piece a cappella for a judging panel. Appointments can be made by calling 301-809-3078. Walk-ins are welcome, however, you must sign up before 1 p.m.

from 2:15 to 3:30 p.m. Announcing opportunities include events such as Bowiefest, the July 4th celebration, and Bowie International Festival.
