Senior Jason Patten tossed a six-inning perfect game as Archbishop Spalding shut out St. Paul's 11-0 to regain the top spot in the MIAA A Conference baseball race.
The right-hander threw 64 pitches, struck out seven and induced nine ground-ball outs and two flyouts for the Cavaliers (27-6) .
"Pitching coach Jimmy Jackson deserves a lot of credit," Spalding coach Steve Miller said. "He called an amazing game and Jason executed every pitch that he called.
"Jimmy is an excellent instructor who deserves a ton of recognition. He catches the blame when things don't go right, but in a situation like this, he should be applauded," Miller added.
The Spalding offense was working on all cylinders, pounding out 11 hits. Junior Eddie Palmer, who went 2-for-3, plastered a two-run home run, while senior Kody Hines had a 3-for-4 afternoon with a double and three RBIs.
Seniors Matt Hillsinger and Jeff Kemp both had two hits, with each stroking a triple and Kemp adding two RBIs. Junior Mike Hogan drove in a pair of teammates and seniors Ryan Woods and Adam Summerfelt delivered an RBI each.

ST. MARY'S 16, ANNAPOLIS 15: Junior Chris Ochall and senior Jordan King enjoyed 3-for-5 games, with each stroking a double. Ochall drove in four runs to go with King's two RBIs as the Saints won a wild affair against the Panthers.
Senior winning pitcher Ed Galligan and classmate Dwight Wilcox both had two hits, including a double each, with Galligan being credited with an RBI. Fellow senior Tony Izzi also ripped a double and added two RBIs and junior Tony Serverizzo had two singles and an RBI. Senior Jon Stewart also drove in a run for St. Mary's.
The Saints are 11-10 and battling with Annapolis Area Christian School for the final playoff spot in the MIAA B Conference Black Division with one regular season game remaining against Park.
For Annapolis, which scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh only to come up a run short, sophomore Steven Hambruch clubbed a three-run home run and junior Matt Disher added a pair of doubles and an RBI. Senior Robbie Reuss laced a triple and a single and also contributed an RBI.
Junior Andrew Sanchez had a pair of singles and plated four runs, while fellow junior Zach Spencer had two hits and two RBIs. Sophomore Josh Kohut chipped in a double for losing pitcher, senior Donnie Lord, who went the distance.

BOYS' LATIN 5, AACS 2: Senior Sean Kelley had a single and an RBI, while classmate Andrew Beall, along with juniors Aaron Marshall, Will Poulakos and Andy Stallings each had a hit, but the Eagles fell to the B Conference-leading Lakers.
Marshall was also the hard-luck losing pitcher, going six innings and striking out three. AACS fell to 7-7 with one regular season game remaining against Friends.
